Our staff of certified counselors will help you understand the foreclosure process, and provide you with details on federal government mortgage programs. We will advocate for you with your mortgage lender in acquiring a modification, short sale, short pay off or even a deed in lieu.

Abayomi is a HUD approved and MSHDA certified housing counseling agency.  We are an Adopter of the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Counseling and Foreclosure Intervention Counseling. Our counselors maintain industry recognized certifications including NeighborWorks NCHEC certifications in Foreclosure Intervention, Home Ownership Counseling, and Financial Capabilities. We partner with the Wayne County Treasurer’s Office and the United Community Housing Coalition for tax payment options and legal referrals.

If you are behind in your property taxes, we can help you get up to $30,000 to pay your bill through our Property Tax Assistance Program (PTA).  The PTA is sponsored by MSHDA and is for delinquent tax payers.  You can have a mortgage or own your home.  You will need the following to apply:  one month’s proof of income, property deed, tax bill, and last year’s tax return with P&L statement if you are self-employed.
